Smartphones: Make the Phone Part of Your Marketing

Nowadays, people do a large portion of their work with mobile phones. Checking email and responding to queries when not at home or in the office is done with smartphones. In your marketing methods, have a specific topic for cell phones, and use smart solutions more regularly because all phones are smart.

You can make games or design temporary applications. McDonald's, for instance, designs labels on its glasses with codes on the back, and customers must insert these codes on the website or in the application. This mainly addresses its customers, but it is ultimately aimed at the proper use of cell phones and at attracting more engagement. In this way, McDonald's introduces its application too. They know people are engaged with their cell phones.

Despite smartphones, you do not need to carry coupons anymore. These methods allow the customer to follow the application or website, sometimes without even going to the restaurant.

I go to McDonald's for coffee or a sandwich seven or eight times a week. As soon as I enter, I take out my cell phone and open the McDonald's app to check the discounts. They might offer a discount on coffee or cakes one time and on sandwiches another time.

Notice how this works. The customer does not need a paper coupon, and the company can change the offer whenever it wants. Because the phone is always at hand, the offer is always in front of the customer, and the customer checks it before even deciding what to order. This is why a smartphone strategy deserves its own place in your marketing plan, together with your social media strategy.
