Getting Published Is Only the First Step
A few days later, the doorbell rang. Steve crossed the living room to the door and opened it to find Greg. “Yo, dude,” Greg said. “How you doing, man? What, you been up all night?”
“No, no, no - this isn't about me; you're the man of the hour! Come on, how'd it go in New York? You nail that job good?”
“Well, you could say that. I signed the contract, and they're starting things up this week,” Steve said, excited, but still feeling more than tired.
“Yee-ha! Oh, we have to celebrate. I'm going to call the whole gang together. We are truly painting this town red,” Greg said excitedly.
“What are you saying?” Greg asked.
Steve waited before responding and then said, “Just because I'm getting published doesn't mean I'm going to be the next Rowling or King. It's a long, hard road ahead.”
“Yeah-yeah. Okay, I get the point. Still, you're getting published! That's cause for celebration. Now, come on, Tonight we party. Okay, my man?” Greg asked.
“Yeah, okay,” Steve said.
