Steve at the Helm: A Yacht, a Reef and a Hurricane
The clear, blue-green waters of the Atlantic glimmered, while a few fluffy white clouds drifted overhead. Steve, decked out in full yachting garb, stood at the steering wheel of a huge, luxury motor boat. Greg, Hillary, Linda, Larry, and Jan, dressed for fun in the sun, reclined in deck chairs. Steve steered the boat. Many rocks and reefs appeared in front of the boat like an obstacle course. He swerved sharply to avoid them as his passengers were tossed about. They tripped and fell, spilling their drinks and dropping food on each other. Suddenly, the skies grew dark, the waves grew even larger, and soon a full hurricane was howling about them. Steve slowly exited his daydream and came back to reality, thinking “Huh, maybe I'll stick to land-based stuff.” Over the next few hours and days, reality set back in for Steve. He and Hillary, along with an editor, met several times at her office to review the manuscript and contract. Finally, Hillary excitedly presented Steve with the first mock-up copy of the book manuscript. It was a grand accomplishment for them both and they congratulated each other for a job well done as they looked the book over.
