Research, Document and Analyze Before You Write
Define for yourself your objective of writing the business plan. First determine your path, and then map your business's future. Write the plan according to your self-knowledge. Before crafting it, prepare two full lists of your strengths and weaknesses. The crueler you write about yourself, the more useful it gets.
Do research as much as you can. Don't do anything simply based on your own mental and intellectual assets. Sometimes one extremely believes in what he or she does, and too much belief in your knowledge makes you avoid researching a topic of interest. If you don't do research, the chances are that in 99% of cases, many parts of your business plan stay unattended. Even if you are an expert, when you proceed without research you are under the impression that you know everything, and you most likely forget an important subject.
There are various research tools: the traditional method is to ask people or read books and magazines. The other is to attend events pertinent to your business and ask the participants for their comments. Searching is another. Without Google, it is impossible to enter the world of research.
Document the information you gather. Documentation is one of the major principles in your work and research. While writing the plan, you assume you'll remember the titles, but you will forget them after a while. Save and record the research's results, and if you have found an important source, record its information. Classify the documents, make multiple files to find them easier, and organize the file names by topic.
Spend time on analyzing the information. Analysis is impossible without research. These two parts must happen together.
