Coupons: Do Not Seek Profit, Seek the Customer's Cooperation

Coupons are one of the essential tools of any business that remain efficient even in the modern world. Offer a 10% or 20% discount coupon and encourage the target market to use it. Coupons allow customers to maintain a two-way interaction with you.

Coupons can be offered on public occasions such as holidays or on private occasions such as a company anniversary or the customer's birthday. In modern systems, you had better have people's date of birth and send them a congratulatory message on that date, along with an offer of a 50% discount, for example.

Do not seek profit in the distribution of coupons. The main issue is the customer's cooperation with you. By offering a coupon, you can bring the customer back to you even after a long time of disconnection.

Personalize coupons and offer them based on local specifications. For example, coupons you distribute in one city should be different from coupons offered in another city. It is even better to offer different coupons in various parts of a city.

Set a valid date for coupons. The expiry date will make customers use it sooner. When defining a validity date, consider whether you will be able to distribute it until the end of the validity date or not. In 2007, we designed 100000 coupons similar to bank cards, with embossed numbers on them, and the validity date was also inserted. We supposed the distribution team would be able to administer them in due time, but we could not manage to distribute the cards by the expiration date. It cost a lot to print 100000 plastic cards with embossed letters and magnets, but it was virtually impossible to distribute them.
